XR Global Media Library
Library structure for all International XR groups to have access to the existing archive of photos, videos, podcasts, radio, art & design.
It's a global resource
The platform can be used by local nodes to organise its content and collaborate globally. It’s meant to be a place where nodes can access media assets that people around the world have created and want to share. It also gives global Rebel groups and content admins the ability to upload and organise all of their local media assets. It will be possible to upload an existing media archive and keep its current file structure.
The structure will enable M&M teams in each country, region and city to access media from all other countries, regions and cities. The aim is to create a Global Content Platform which will improve our connectivity and enhance our ability to amplify our stories around the world.
The new global structure is in four sections within the larger archive:
XR Global Media Submissions (Non-Public): Where new content from around the world is collected, and initially sorted, by content and regional admins from within the folders which the submissions log-ins point to.
XR Global Media Breaking News Content (Public): Where curated current news content and press/social media picture stories and videos are placed. Breaking News Content will be the first place social media reps come to access current news content.
XR Global Archive (Non-Public): Deep storage folders for older content that has either already been shared via the Breaking News Content or which is not relevant for any particular campaign. Ultimately this is where the bulk of content will be stored.
XR Global Media Resources (Public): Permanent, public-facing folders containing curated long-term content such as picture stories and finished video content. The stories and content here is of more long-term relevance, such as XR DNA. This is also where resources for XR Groups and individual Rebels, such as guides, templates and editing resources, will be accessed. Admins may choose to copy news stories here as well as into the Global Archive if they feel that the content has long-term relevance and should be part of XR Global’s permanent shop window.
Two login types
1. Submissions log-in
For anyone who wants to upload media
Has the ability to create some folders (because media has to be placed in the right country/local group)
At the moment, this log-in has also access to the Europe Media Archive (Not Public), which is administrated by the admin log-in
2. Admin log-in
Their main task will be sorting the content from the submission folders to the deep storage folders or the Breaking News Content folders (to create stories/press selections). Various tools can be used in order to sort it:
Keywording
Rating with stars
The XR Global Breaking News content folder is where the good content has to go. Folders will be cleared on a bimonthly basis, so at any one time it will contain the current month and previous month. The not so good stuff that we still want to keep will go to the XR Global Media Archive. The deep storage folders are also where admins will migrate content into in order to clear the Breaking News Content folders.
For instance, in XR Global Breaking News, there will only be the 10 or 12 best pictures of an event. Inside this folder, the content could be organised by Continent>Country>Region>Date>Photos, but the way we organise our folders is up to us.
How is the content delivered outside of the system?
The mechanism used to share the content outside of the system is a website link. In order to generate it, we must click on the folder we want to share and select "publish to web".
We know a folder has a website link because a globe symbol appears next to it.
Only a limited number of website links are available at the same time, so when one isn't relevant anymore, we must delete it.
When someone gets the link, they can either download the whole thing or each file individually.
There's a support email address for any problems: XRmediaarchive@protonmail.com. They're open to feedback from global users.
