Forum ‘The Base’
A community platform to coordinate at a global scale.
The Base is built atop a discussion and coordination software called Discourse, one widely used by NGOs and companies worldwide. Unlike chat (Mattermost, Slack, Discord, etc), this is not intended as a hangout or a channel serving our real-time (synchronous/unstructured) teamcommunication needs. Rather, it was set up (09/03/19) as a practical environment to facilitate asynchronous organisation between branches, to plan events, to help gradually grow and store the knowledge and ideas we need to get things done.
Unlike chat, which can be a little overwhelming at times, The Base doesn’t privilege presence. More so, being structured around categories and their topics, it is ideal for knowledge development and archiving.
